The Recruit Cosmos scandal is really hurting Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp, and to make matters even worse, the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications is reportedly thinking of imposing a temporary ban on the firm bidding on procurement contracts put out by the Ministry for its part in the affair – in particular in selling on Cray Research supercomputers to Recruit in return for Cosmos shares at giveaway prices: if a ban is imposed, it will be under the ordinance that says a firm involved in bribery or fraud may not supply goods or services to the Ministry; there is no mandatory duration for any ban.
