The Object Management Group has finally decided to adopt a Smalltalk Language Mapping from IBM Corp and Hewlett-Packard Corp for its Interface Definition Language. It has also adopted an Interface Repository Specification from Digital Equipment Corp, Hewlett-Packard Corp and SunSoft Inc to perform run-time access to Interface Definition Language information. The Object Group has also added an Object Query Service, its eleventh service, which provides selection, insertion, deletion, querying and returning data, derived from a specification that was submitted by IBM, Itasca Inc, Objectivity Inc, Ontos Inc, O2 Technology SA, Servio Logic Inc, SunSoft, Sybase Inc and Taligent Inc.
