THE MINISTRY OF P&T TO REVISE BROADCASTING LAW

The Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications is considering revising the Broadcasting Law the better to reflect the two satellite communications businesses which are about to start offering service in competition with Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp and the three terrestrial competitor phone company start ups: the two, Japan Communications Satellite Co Inc and Space Communications Corp are due to launch their satellite communications businesses this spring, and there is at present concern at the lack of a defined distinction between communications and broadcasting.
