THE EC DRAWS UP A MANDATORY CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COMPUTER-BASED AIRLINE RESERVATION SYSTEMS

By CBR Staff Writer

The European Commission has drawn up a mandatory code of conduct for all computer-based airline reservation systems operating within the Community, wherever the system is based, which requires that airlines do not discriminate unfairly in favour of their own flights: the code stipulates how flight details must be displayed, bars discretionary marketing of the services to travel agents, and enacts a fine of up to 10% of an airline’s annual revenue for violations of the code.
