In the drive to prepare companies and UK Chambers of Commerce for the liberalisation of European trade barriers in 1992, the Department of Trade & Industry has set up a database carrying information on Single Market measures adopted, proposed and projected by the European Commission in Brussels: the database, called Spearhead, has been developed by hosts Profile Information, the online information company sold by Datasolve to the Financial Times Group last October, whose business news database, Profile has some 3,000 subscribers; the database, which will be up-dated once a month, can be dialled up via Profile, with any ASCII Teletype-compatible terminal at UKP1 a minute, or without further subscription via Telecom Gold, One to One and Mercurylink electronic mail services, and can also be used to access Celex, the database of all existing European Community legislation.
