Tandem Computers’ proposed acquisition of Ungermann-Bass Inc will reportedly not affect the situation in Japan, where Mitsubishi Electric Corp has had a long association with Ungermann, and recently launched a local area networking joint venture called Network Systems with it: according to both Tandem and Mitsubishi, Ungermann-Bass will continue selling its current range and the Mitsubishi connection will be subject to negotiation.
