We knew that manning the stand at a computer exhibition was tough on the nerves, but a report from the Bullet Stop – that place in Marietta, Georgia we told subscribers about a few months back where you can really let of steam by taking a machine gun to your least favourite inanimate object – underlines how many pent-up emotions needed to be liberated at the Comdex/Spring show in Atlanta last month: it says that about 10 groups of people from Comdex showed up to turn the M3 carbines and Tommy guns on personal computers, hard disks, monitors, even a 2,000 page-per minute printer; no doubt Vittorio Cassoni would have declined the invitation to be keynote speaker if he’d known it would have that effect on people.
