In the US, Olbert’s figures show that 40% are the first system in a new site, representing 42% of the VM and 37% of the DOS/VSE population; 22% are joining other IBM processors, representing 24% of the VSE and 16% of the VM population; 16% are competitive knockouts, and are 19% of the VSE, 6% of the VM population; 17% are replacing IBM machines, and are 41% of the VSE, 8% of the VM population; and 5% are running alongside competitors, all running VM, and making up 7% of the VM population – and the figures do add up to 100%.
