The 4GL Grand Prix, organised by Horsley Associates, took place on Thursday and Friday last week at London’s Metropole Hotel, where teams of programmers from eight applications generator pushers competed: the overall winner was SeaChange from York-based SeaChange Ltd, judged the most productive and the best for minicomputers and mid-range systems; second came Atech System Builder with SB+, winning the best development and information centre categories; Progress won the best MS-DOS product award, and McDonnell Douglas the best mainframe product with Pro-IV; others taking part included Aspect Computing with Lansa, Ingres Corp, Unify Corp, and new Norwegian Systemator.
