Technology-neutral consortium Open Group has released ArchiMate 2.0, the latest version of the organisation’s open and independent modelling language for Enterprise Architecture.

ArchiMate 2.0 is developed by the ArchiMate Forum of The Open Group and is now more aligned with TOGAF, an Enterprise Architecture framework.

The latest technical standard improves collaboration through understanding spanning multiple functions and enables the creation of fully integrated models of an organisation’s Enterprise Architecture.

ArchiMate 2.0 delivers improved business and IT alignment through Enterprise Architecture modelling aligned with the TOGAF ADM and an extension to model stakeholders, drivers for change, business goals, principles and requirements.

In addition, it also delivers consistency and examples, as well as additional clarification updates from the previous version and implementation and migration extensions to support project portfolio management, gap analysis and transition and migration planning.

The Open Group CEO Allen Brown said ArchiMate 2.0 provides enterprise architects with the tools and concepts necessary to create a consistent, integrated model that aligns more closely with TOGAF.

"This new standard will increase interoperability and help enterprise architects establish a common language across the enterprise, raising the value and awareness of the discipline," said Brown.
