The project may well be extended to other Danish cities, as well as neighboring Sweden. Artema Modular, the universal unattended card payment solution from Thales, was chosen for the project. It accepts the local Danish debit card, Dankort, as well as all international payment cards be they with chip or magnetic stripe.
Christian Reiling, vice president and managing director for the e-Transactions activities of Thales Security Solutions & Services division, said: As the first ever electronic payment project within Denmark’s parking sector, this implementation shows how parking operators are increasingly taking advantage of unattended card payments to provide customers with greater flexibility.
Artema Modular is currently in use in many other unattended payment projects around the world, such as in public transport and road tolls. We are confident that the Copenhagen implementation will lead to deployment of the solution in other Danish cities.
