The news raised the share price of mobile related industries. Shares of Logica, Europe’s largest provider of software to mobile phone companies, rose 27.5 pence, or 4.4%, to 653.5p. CMG, an Anglo-Dutch rival, raised 15.5p, or 7.2%, to 230p.
Text use hits one billion in UK
According to the Mobile Data Association, the number of text messages sent in the UK last month topped one billion for the first time. The total for August was 1.05 billion. England's 5-1 win against Germany in August and the release of British school exam results the same month boosted demand, the MDA said.
