Texas Instruments Inc yesterday announced that it had spent over $1m updating existing equipment for the production of EPIC advanced CMOS logic circuits at its West German manufacturing facility in Freising, and has invested over $4m in its packaging and testing plant in Oporto, Portugal in preparation for introducing BiCMOS technology into the line: the company claims that when used in combination with its recently introduced family of BiCMOS bus-interface functions, designers will be able to develop systems that operate with both high performance and low power dissipation; Philips-Signetics will be the second source for the logic family.
