7 Layers AG, a BLUETOOTH qualification body, awarded TI’s TRF6001 RF device certification status in February, due to its ability to meet and exceed the worldwide BLUETOOTH standard. With today’s announcement, TI now offers manufacturers of BLUETOOTH enabled wireless products, a complete certified solution – the newly RF qualified device coupled with TI’s RAM-based BSN6020 baseband processor, which was certified in November 2000.

We are pleased to have been granted certification, as it adds further credibility for our field-proven BLUETOOTH chipsets, said Ari Rauch, general manager for TI’s Short-Distance Wireless Business Unit based in Israel. We are committed to providing robust solutions to enable wireless connectivity and will continue to work with our customers to integrate our BLUETOOTH solutions into a wide variety of wireless products across multiple end equipments.

Providing up to 1 Mbps in data transmission, the BLUETOOTH standard utilizes the 2.4 Gigahertz (GHz) worldwide unlicensed band and is a leading standard for the emerging short distance wireless market. As home and office networking continues to gain momentum, wireless networking technology such as BLUETOOTH will be increasingly significant, as consumers find they can simplify networking within their homes and offices by using such no wires networks. By raising the bar in industry performance, TI’s BLUETOOTH solutions are helping to make these wireless personal area networks a reality today.
