Texas Instruments Inc is set to expand its mass storage capabilities with the acquisition of certain assets from digital circuit design companies Oasix Corp and Arisix Corp. Texas Instruments will buy the assets, design tools and licenses of a series of transactions from the privately held companies, including around 20 staff. On completion of the purchases, Texas Instruments will integrate the staff into its Storage Products Division. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The Dallas company will be able to expand its hard disk drive development capabilities, which it hopes will boost its digital signal processing offerings. If all goes to plan, the acquisitions of Oasix and Arisix will enable Texas Instruments to ultimately provide more cost effective products for the storage market, by providing greater levels of density, integration and performance.
