Cheshunt, UK-based Tesco, which is the UK’s largest retail chain, said the positions would go from three of its UK support centers in Cardiff, Dundee and Welwyn Garden City where it currently provides invoice processing and technical support. The announcement follows the company’s decision to send 350 positions to India last year. Tesco currently has a support center near Bangalore, and according to reports it is also planning an IT and business process outsourcing center at a recently acquired 15-acre site near Bangalore, which it will use to expand its offshore delivery services.

Already this year companies including BT, Barclays, Lloyds TSB, HSBC, and Norwich Union have announced similar plans to send IT or back-office support services offshore to India.
