The range will include an office suite, security and antivirus products, a personal finance tool, a CD/DVD burning tool and a photo editing tool. Each product will be priced under GBP20.

It is the first time a retailer has released a fully branded software range, including support and websites to rival the big, existing companies such as Microsoft, Symantec and McAfee, said a Tesco spokesperson.

The software is being developed for Tesco in a partnership with software vendor Formjet. The range will be available in over 100 Tesco stores across the UK from October, and a full roll-out is planned over the next 12 months.

Tesco buyer Daniel Cook said: With more people working from home and schools encouraging greater use of IT, the demand for home computing equipment is bigger than ever.
