Announced at the firm’s Partners 2015 event in Los Angeles, Teradata Listener and Teradata Aster Analytics on Hadoop will brings IoT insights at immense scale.

Exposing hidden business IoT data insights, the software makes it possible to intelligently listen in real-time and then use analytics to see the distinctive patterns in massive streams of IoT data.

Teradata said its IoT software capabilities eliminate complexity and latency, while providing organisations with new capabilities to leverage data.

Chad Meley, VP of unified data architecture product and services marketing at Teradata, told CBR that businesses will benefit from these products by democratising access and analysis of new IoT data sources through powerful, easy self-service tools.

He said: "These self-service tools enable more people to quickly harness fast moving data streams, and apply powerful, multi-genre analytics against this data to spot and act upon more opportunities."

Listener has been designed to be an intelligent, self-service software with real-time "listening" capabilities to follow multiple streams of sensor and IoT data wherever it exists globally, and then propagate the data into multiple platforms in an analytical ecosystem.

As for Teradata’s Aster Analytics on Hadoop, the company said this is an integrated analytics solution with different analytics techniques and seven vertical industry applications to run directly on Hadoop.

Listener will be released in Q1 2016 with Aster Analytics on Hadoop scheduled to start shipping in Q2 next year.

Meley said: "2016 should be the year that analytics of IoT "crosses the chasm" by making the harnessing and use of IoT much more efficient through self-service ingestion and consumption of fast moving IoT data."
