Teradata has launched Teradata Loom 2.4, which is designed to expand the depth and breadth of data management with an Apache Hadoop data lake. Teradata Loom is designed to increase productivity for data scientists and analysts.

Scott Gnau, president, Teradata Labs, said: "It is common for data lakes to be filled with massive amounts of undefined, ungovernable, and inaccessible data."

"Teradata Loom offers breakthrough capability to maximize the value of the data lake with automated tools that shrink the learning curve, decrease complexity, and speed the generation of exceptional insights to business users."

"Instead of taking months, big data analytic projects can now advance in hours."

Teradata loom offers data lineage, integrated metadata and data wrangling for Java Script Object Notation data which is the primary data format for IoT devices. Included is support for international data formats which have been added to make it easier to wrangle data and currency data.

It is necessary for organisations to have smart data management tools as otherwise these organisations can struggle to understand the data‘s location, type, format, content, and how to prepare it for analysis. Teradata Loom 2.4 will be available by March 31st 2015.
