Template Software Inc is adding ERP connectors to its EIT application integration software from Visual Edge Software Ltd. Template sells an enterprise integration template for integrating applications and data primarily being delivered as Corba or DCOM/COM components.
Rather than building out individual applications with integration capabilities Template believes intelligence should be delivered by a server which sits in the middle of a network. It’s integrating Visual Edge’s Madrid SAP- and Tuxedo-to-Corba engine into EIT and will also resell Visual Edge’s software in Euorpe. It expects the current rash of packaged application connectors to be reduced to a dribble when ISVs begin exposing their APIs in XML or object form. Visual Edge exposes SAP APIs in Corba.
Template ended its third quarter with net income of $87,000 versus a loss of $19,000 last time on revenue up 46% at $12.5m. It wonders how some pre-IPO sections of the industry will be able to keep it together when they are raising huge amounts of venture capital and spending swathes of it on marketing.
