Under the terms of the contract, Telvent’s ITACA urban traffic management application will be implemented in Jeddah, Mecca, Medina, and the surrounding regions. The move is an attempt to improve traffic flow and reduce the levels of carbon dioxide emission.
Telvent will also provide an application to detect, capture, and process speeding and traffic light violations, as well as installing vehicle identification systems to locate stolen or uninsured vehicles.
Earlier this month, Telvent, along with partners Indra Sistemas and Atos Origin, was chosen by the General Direction of Traffic in Spain to set up and operate a center which will be responsible for managing and reporting traffic violations nationwide and issuing the resulting fines.
