Enterprise social software provider Telligent has acquired assets of the messaging and collaboration application firm Zimbra from VMware for an undisclosed amount.
Following the acquisition, Telligent will merge the firm to form a new software company called Zimbra that would offer unified social collaboration suite.
The new company will be led by an integrated management team, which will be lead by Telligent CEO Patrick Brandt.
Brandt said that Zimbra allows traditional collaboration through features like email, calendar sharing and address books, while Telligent supports real-time collaboration via chat, social networking, online communities and more.
"The combination of the two will enable companies to easily share documents and ideas instantly, providing true unified collaboration," he dded.
Zimbra is expected to allow users to offer better productivity, innovation and customer experience with the integration of its messaging and collaboration application with Telligent’s social community, collaboration and analytics software.
