Inevitably, some of the UKP33m received by STC Plc from British Telecom to supply TXE exchange extensions and multiplexers would have to spent on technology bought in from outside, and the first knock-on order has gone to County Clare, Northern Ireland-based Tellabs Ltd: Tellabs will be supplying STC with UKP2m worth of its echo cancelling equipment for use in international gateway exchanges currently being installed by STC; the bulk of the order is for Tellabs’ 254 split-type echo cancellers designed to get rid of echo on all 30 or 31 voice frequency channel circuits.
