TeleSoft AB of San Diego, California has announced that its TeleGen2 Ada compiler has been selected as the Ada for the $164m Information System Workstation Segment project by its prime contractor and systems integrator, Bull HN Information Systems Inc’s HFSI, formerly Honeywell Federal Systems; the Worldwide Military Command & Control System Information System Workstation project seems to operate on a need-to-know basis and calls for the delivery of between 10,000 and 80,000 computer systems for use by the US armed forces; TeleSoft expects to deliver a between 1,000 and and 16,000 TeleGen2 Ada Development Systems for Apple Computer Inc Macintosh IIx computers running under the A/UX Unix; TeleGen2 Ada provides Macintosh IIx developers with a set of tools for production use including the Ada compiler, a Source Level Debugger, Global Optimiser, Language Tools and the Ada Profiler; the second-generation Ada compiler generates Motorola 68030 machine code for the Macintosh IIx, and the compiler and object code run under Apple’s A/UX operating system; the systems will be used in secure local workstations for joint strategic operations planning and execution at unified and specified commands of US military services worldwide; applications include office automation, information management, engineering support and computation-intensive missions, and systems will communicate with existing WWMCCS minis and mainframes.
