Telepak Networks, a provider of Internet, telecommunications and network services, has selected Alcatel-Lucent to deploy IP/MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) as their packet-based network to deliver wireless Ethernet backhaul services and advanced IP services in parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee.

Alcatel-Lucent’s offering will enable Telepak to offer an array of flexible IP-based backhaul services, and help the regional service provider meet anticipated future growth requirements.

Alcatel-Lucent will deploy its IP/MPLS portfolio including: 7750 Service Router, 7450 Ethernet Service Switch, 7210 Service Access Switch, and 5620 Service Aware Manager.

Alcatel-Lucent vice-president of sales for major accounts in North America Charles Marsh said that network reliability is of the utmost concern for service providers, whether they be a Tier 1 carrier or regional operators.

"Our work with Telepak highlights that Alcatel-Lucent’s offering works equally well with all carriers as we help operators focus on the need for growth and the ever-increasing demand for quality, reliable and flexible IP-based backhaul services," Marsh said.
