TELEMATICS GETS MICOM’s T1 UNIT FOR $10m…

Hungry Telematics International Inc has leaped in with a bid for the Micom Digital Corp subsidiary of Micom Systems Inc, Simi Valley, California, winning definitive agreement for acquisition of the business from the self-destructing Micom for $9.65m in cash. Micom Digital manufactures a T1 Resource Manager, which enables integrated voice, data and video transmission over the high-speed digital 1.544Mbps T1 circuits. Closing is expected as soon as the end of this week. Telematics founder, chairman and lord high everything else at the Fort Lauderdale, Florida company, John Pitt, comments As part of our stated long-term strategy, Telematics’ position as a leading supplier of intelligent, hybrid networks will be greatly enhanced by the integration of T1 and the European CEPT standards into its networking and network management product lines. Micom Digitals products have significant advantages over competing products in internationl markets. Telematics does 45% of its business with multinationals and with operators of large international public data networks.
