ECI Telecom Ltd’s Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based subsidiary, Telematics International Inc, has announced the PPP/SLIP/X.25 Gateway, which it says will enable X.25 service providers to offer seamless Internet communications without changing the existing X.25 network infrastructure. The gateway, which is available on the company’s high-end ACP50 system, supports up to 48 simultaneous Point-to-Point Protocol/Serial Line Internet Protocol sessions, with users said to be able to run Point-to-Point Protocol or Serial Line Internet Protocol sessions at up to 115.2Kbps without any data compression when directly connected to the X.25 network. In addition, says Telematics, the ACP50 supports V.32bis integral modems for speeds of up to 57.6Kbps. The firm also said that the product’s Auto-Protocol Detect feature gives service providers the ability to dynamically configure each port to accommodate different types of traffic, including PPP, SLIP, or asynchronous. It is managed by Telematics’s Open Management System, Smartview, or NET25 SNMP Proxy agent. The ACP50 incorporating the PPP/SLIP/X.25 Gateway is available now, listing from $4,825. For existing users, an upgrade kit is also available from Telematics, and costs $1,350.
