TELEKOM ORDERED TO OPEN NETWORK TO COMPETITORS

A German Court has sided with the government and ruled that Deutsche Telekom AG must provide access to its national telephone network, signaling victory for competitors of the State owned telecommunications operation. The Wall Street Journal says it is not yet known whether the company will appeal against the ruling which states that public interest in establishing competition, and the interests of the company’s rivals outweighs Deutsche Telekom’s desire to maintain full control over its lines.
