Those overpriced continental dinosaur state telephone monopolies are going to be on their uppers soon: another reseller, Telegroup Inc has launched a toll-free callback service for European subscribers which it says will more than halve weekday phone charges inside Europe; the service, called Global Access, enables subscribers in Europe to route their continental calls via the US to take advantage of the lower prices that way round; it says it has 30,000 subscribers worldwide, of which half are in Europe, mostly in the Netherlands, France and Germany, and to make a call the subscriber dials the Global Access network in New York, using a touchtone phone, enters a code corresponding to his telephone number, and then hangs up; the phone rings in a few seconds, the subscriber receives a dial tone and then makes the call at lower rates than those charged by the national telephone company, Telegroup says.
