Telefonica Moviles to bring i-mode services to Spain

Telefonica Moviles and Telefonica Moviles Espana have signed an agreement with NTT DoCoMo to launch i-mode services in Spain. Under the agreement, DoCoMo will provide the patents, know-how and technology to enable Telefonica Moviles Espana to offer the service over its Spanish GPRS network.

The agreement between the three parties will last for five years from July 24, 2002. Telefonica Moviles Espana plans to launch i-mode under its e-mocion brand name in the first half of 2003.

In addition to this agreement, DoCoMo and Telefonica Moviles have formally agreed to create a business and technology alliance in overall mobile communications. This will involve the sharing of GPRS/SIM card technologies and know-how.
