TELECOM AUSTRALIA AND OPTUS COMMUNICATIONS PLAN NETWORK

Telecom Australia and Optus Communications Pty Ltd are to build a 1,300-mile optical fibre submarine cable from Western Australia to Indonesia by 1996; the $102m system, a co-operative venture with the Indonesian carrier PT Indosat, will give Australia access to the proposed Asia-Pacific Cable Network.
