TELCO TO ACQUIRE ADVANTIS VOICE NETWORK ASSETS

Telco Communications Group Inc, Chantilly, Virginia long-distance phone service provider is to acquire the voice network assets of the Advantis joint venture of IBM Corp and Sears Roebuck & Co for about $170m in cash. The $430m-a-year Telco says the Advantis assets include about 100,000 network miles of DS-3 fiber optic capacity under a long-term lease, five Northern Telecom Ltd DMS 250 switches, and other ancillary network equipment.
