The company intended to maximise competitive advantage by working closely with major software vendors, and it has recently revealed several new partners. Tektronix workstations, specifically 4300s and superworkstations, which are based on the Motorola 88000 RISC chip, are targeted at industries specialising in computer aided design and manufacturing. Consequently, the company’s new partners operate in the two- and three-dimensional graphics workstation market. BYG Systems is based in Nottingham, and its GRASP simulation package enables users to create three dimensional representations of manufacturing systems, and is aimed largely at engineers. Dalim Ltd, which has its UK base in Perryvale, Middlesex, is headquartered in Strasbourg, and has a design package called Litho System which is used by reprographic, photographic, and communication industries. FEGS is in Cambridge, and produces a graphics system used in the design and stress analysis of space technology, cars, electronics and ships. Precision Visuals Inc, of Boulder Colorado, and based in Uxbridge, Middlesex over here is best known for its graphics information tools to develop applications in factory floor specification, page layout, and fluid flow modelling. Californian Wavefront Technologies doesn’t have a UK office, and its European headquarters are in Belgium. It manufactures an animation and simulation system used in aerospace design, oceanographic analysis, and broadcast production. Watford-based Doric distribute Arc/Info’s geographic information system, and it is largely used by civil engineers and planners in local government.
