TECMAR ANNOUNCES MULTIMEDIA ADAPTATION OF THE PS/1

By CBR Staff Writer

The Tecmar Inc subsidiary of Rexon Inc, Culver City, California rather surprisingly reckons that IBM Corp’s PS/1 home computer is a suitable vehicle for multimedia, and has come out with Vision/1, a full-motion TV video system for the box: the The Vision/1 TV adaptor, developed jointly with IBM itself, adds multimedia capabilities to the PS/1 by displaying full-motion colour video on the PS/1 VGA Photographic display; the video input can be taken from broadcast or cable television, video cassette recorder, laser disk player or a video camera; Vision/1 has a picture-in-picture mode, enabling the user to run software programs with the full-motion video input on part of the screen – and it’s just $400.
