With the inclusion of the two additional shows, Wink will be enhancing 18 hours of programming per week on TechTV. Both the new and updated interactive content will begin airing in early May and will include supplementary information such as reviews of featured products, show-specific polls, and upcoming program schedules. TechTV’s enhanced programming is available nationwide to digital cable and DIRECTV customers who have a Wink-capable set-top box or DIRECTV receiver.

TechTV’s programming focuses on the benefits of technology and how the world at large uses it. What better way to embrace and display the benefits of interactive television than by employing the technology ourselves, said John Gilles, online producer at TechTV. We have had positive feedback from the use of Wink’s technology on Fresh Gear, and we look to extend this success to Audio File and Extended Play.

Wink’s enhanced television technology gives viewers a free and convenient way to interact with programs and advertisements while they continue to watch TV. With a simple click of the remote control, viewers can request information such as product videos, samples, coupons, and other free offers from advertisers. Viewers may also make purchases instantly.

TechTV’s viewers have a desire to learn about and experience the latest technological advances and conveniences available to consumers, which makes the network’s programming an ideal venue for interactive television technology, said Melinda White, executive vice president of programming and distribution, Wink Communications. We look forward to leveraging our expanded relationship with TechTV to bring added depth, breadth, and entertainment value to its program lineup.

TechTV programs that will use Wink-enhanced content include Audio File, Fresh Gear, and Extended Play, three weekly half-hour shows included in TechTV’s original programming lineup. Please check with your DBS or local cable provider for airing times.
