In other news, VeriSign Inc said yesterday it has acquired the Unimobile business unit of Electronics For Imaging Inc for $5.25m in cash, in order to expand its SMS and MMS messaging network bridging services.

The company said the platform it is acquiring allows these messaging services to be carried between different protocols using VeriSign’s network as a mediating point between carriers’ networks.

Another part of the Unimobile business comprises content conversion and delivery, helping users see content catered to their specific type of device. VeriSign said these services are available immediately.
