The tech business world will be represented by VeriSign CEO Stratton Sclavos, Symantec CEO John Thompson, Microsoft CTO Craig Mundie, and representatives from other firms including Time Warner, Bell South and others.

One pundit remarked that the speaker list looks like it is made up of the old guard.

Government will be represented by Federal Communications Commission chair Michael Powell, Federal Trade Commission chair Orson Swindle, David Gross from the Department of State, and delegates from many US agencies.

PFF president Raymond Gifford said: This year we will focus on the future of the Internet, examining the policy, legal and economic implications of this constantly changing phenomenon.

Topics under discussion include regulating the physical network layer, software standards and open source, the economy and internet content.
