TeamWare Group has launched two new Internet-intranet Mail Servers and reiterated its intention to increase its share of the worldwide market for groupware to 10% by 1998 (CI No 2,880). It had been an ICL Plc business division, but in January, ICL decided a partnership with Fujitsu Ltd was the only sure way to ensure TeamWare could successfully compete on an international scale with groupware rivals IBM Corp’s Lotus Notes and Microsoft Corp’s Exchange. As part of the deal, Fujitsu took control of the US and Japanese market, while ICL retained control in Europe. There will be both a local and global marketing campaign to push the new kit. It said it will strive to double European revenues to about $45m this year. Mail Server 5.0 is available now and is about $65 per user.
