277 primary and secondary schools took part in the survey of teacher attitudes to ICT.
69% of teachers said wireless enables greater flexibility in lesson delivery, and 55% said interactive boards were important classroom tools for the future.
Graham Cox, vice principal of Mossbourne Community Academy said, ICT is helping to reduce the time teachers spend on administration and allowing them to focus on the delivery of their lessons and the national curriculum. Students benefit too as they are more engaged through the use of interactive whiteboards and access to the internet. Together, this results in a more positive and productive classroom environment.
However, there were concerns regarding downtime (56%), and slow connections (32%). These were cited as potential challenges to lesson delivery. Other concerns were lack of computers (64%) and budget constraints (79%).
