To support ongoing operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan

By CBR Staff Writer

TeleCommunication Systems, or TCS, has received an additional $5.6m of funding from the US Army to provide additional secure internet protocol router and non-secure internet protocol router access point VSAT satellite systems, and an assortment of data packages, forward deployed spares and field service engineers.

According to TCS, the systems will support ongoing operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. This is part of the US Army Communications-Electronics Life Cycle Management Command order that was announced in August 2008, with a potential value of $246m, and brings TCS SNAP funding to date to $43.9m.

The SNAP program includes options for approximately 1,500 terminals and supporting equipment to be deployed in various sizes and configurations over the next few years, along with up to 30 field support personnel, said TCS.

Michael Bristol, senior vice president of government solutions for TCS, said: Our team is dedicated to the task at hand which is to provide the best possible communications technologies for enabling our brave men and women to accomplish their missions. We look forward to continuing to provide our military with these deployable communications solutions and are ready to meet any demand asked of us.
