TCI Gameco Holdings Inc, a subsidiary of Tele-Communications Inc has sold its stake in computer games publisher Acclaim Entertainment Inc. TCI sold the 4.3 million shares – representing about 8.5% of Acclaim – in a block trade and at the same time executives and employees of Acclaim bought back 330,000 of the shares. Acclaim and TCI originally entered into a partnership in 1995 in which Acclaim was to create content for TCI’s interactive network. The agreement included an exchange of stock between the two companies. The arrangement was canned in 1997 when financially troubled Acclaim decided to pare down operations and concentrate on retail products only. Acclaim sold its stake in TCI back in December.
