TCF Bank, a subsidiary of US-based TCF Financial, has selected Goldleaf Financial Solutions’s Sierra Xpedite Back Counter system, to accelerate its initiatives to reduce check processing infrastructure and processing costs and achieve efficiencies through image-based transaction processing.

Goldleaf said that the implementation of Sierra Xpedite Back Counter was chosen as a first step to moving forward with check truncation within TCF’s branches, while complementing its enterprise level strategy, which includes branch front counter capture in the future.

Goldleaf also said that the system will also facilitate the closing of multiple regional processing centers, providing an opportunity for the bank to lower its operations costs and transportation expenses.

Jim LaPlante, executive vice president of operations at TCF Bank, said: Selecting Goldleaf is reflective of our mission to engage a partner that can help us execute a long-term strategy that will allow our bank to deploy image capture across our enterprise. Reduction in courier costs, elimination of equipment and maintenance costs and the ability to improve float are all immediate benefits from back counter capture.

Lynn Boggs, CEO of Goldleaf Financial Solutions, said: We are excited about the opportunity to add TCF to our growing list of enterprise customers and work with the bank to advance its initiatives to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in a meaningful way through our solutions.
