Tao Group Ltd, the UK-based embedded operating systems company, has signed an exclusive agreement with Providence, Rhode Island- based NTRU Cryptosystems Inc, and will use the public key encryption technology for incorporation into handheld and consumer devices. Applications where real-time encryption can be supported include voice communications, electronic financial transactions and controlled access to data and video information sent over wireless or networked connections, such as internet banking, e-commerce and digital TV. Tao will develop and distribute toolkits based on the NTRU technology, which recently won approval from the US Commerce Department to license its patented technology to third parties outside of the US.
