Tandy Corp has gone to Disneyland for its inspiration for the Incredible Universe chain of megastores: it opened the first in Portland, Oregon yesterday and the second will open in Arlington, Texas on October 1; Incredible Universe offers the largest selection of electronic products, appliances, computers, software and accessories in the world at competitive prices, including Digital Compact Cassette and Tandy’s VIS multimedia computer, but crucially, Incredible Universe employs more than 300 cast members whose sole responsibility is to ensure that customers – called guests – make the best possible buying decision; there is a non-commissioned sales staff and at least 10% of all employees’ time is to be spent in training Tandy said.
