TANDY TO MANUFACTURE ITS COLOR COMPUTER 3 IN THE US

Times certainly change fast in this business, and Tandy Corp says it is bringing manufacture of its Color Computer 3 back home to the US from South Korea, reckoning that this will shave 7% off the cost as well as creating 400 to 500 jobs in Fort Worth, Texas: Tandy also plans to increase multi-layer printed circuit board capacity with a new plant in Salt Lake City, Utah next year initially employing 100, as well as a new audio plant in Vienna, Virginia employing 300 to 400 people, spending $20m on the Utah and Virginia plants; Tandy also said its cellular phones are going well with 10% of the market – but it is after a 20% share next year.
