Tandy Corp’s Radio Shack unit in Fort Worth, Texas has announced the Tandy CT-302 handheld portable cellular telephone: the CT-302 weighs 15.9 oz with battery installed and measures 7 by 2.6 by 1.2; it is powered by a slide-in rechargeable battery and has a number of features including an 832-channel capacity, an illuminated LCD display with backlighted controls, one-touch re-dial, electronic lock to prevent unauthorised outgoing calls and dual-NAM feature for two number capability; up to 40 16-digit numbers may be stored for fast two-digit dialling, and the phone has a built-in antenna for strong cellular areas and an additional extendable antenna for use in fringe areas; it costs $500 with a rechargeable battery, charger and case.
