Tandon Corp reports that in the first three months of this year, Tandon Espana has installed 8,527 systems representing a 26% increase on the same period in 1989. Spanish managing director Roberto Maldonado pointed out that the results support the predictions he made at the end of 1989. Although the number of units sold has not increased overall, the demand for Tandon top-end systems is growing rapidly, showing that it is experiencing the same success the company had with the products it launched when first in Spain. Maldonado puts the success down to the technical research teams and those analysing market requirements as well as Tandon’s eagerness to maintain the best user service available. In 1987 the company had 150 distributors whilst now it has 400 points of sale covering the whole of Spain. In the first three months of this year it sold 741 8088 machines, more than 6,000 80286s, 626 80386SX machines and 789 80386s as well as 233 laptops. Europe of course represents a much bigger market for Tandon than is the US these days.
