TANDEM’S UB NETWORKS MAKES HEADWAY WITH ITS VIRTUAL NETWORK STRATEGY

By CBR Staff Writer

Tandem Computers Inc’s UB Networks Inc, in Santa Clara, California, has embarked on Phase 11 of its Virtual Network Architecture strategy, in the shape of the Virtual Network Visualizer which is claimed to be the first management application to enable graphical visualization and management of logical networks. A prototype of Virtual Network Visualizer is available now and is free to customers for evaluation. UB also wants to license it to other network management suppliers. It is based around Simple Network Management Protocol and runs under Windows NT and Windows95, incorporating a hardware browser for viewing the configuration of devices, regardless of location. Virtual Network Visualizer can be used to manage all Virtual Network Architecture products including the new Geo range.
