In the biggest announcement in its history, Tandem Telecommunications Systems Inc down in Plano, Texas announced its TTSI-NET family of products for telephone companies, claiming it to be the first available complete system for telephone service providers that offer advanced Intelligent Network services such as toll-free 800 numbers and Line Information Databases. The TTSI-NET family, which comes in versions for both Tandem’s proprietary Guardian operating system and for Unix on the Integrity S-2. The new software includes the TSCP-1000 Service Control Point, the TSMS-1000 Service Management System and the TSCE-1000 Service Creation Environment. This year, Nynex Corp and the Tandem Computers Inc subsidiary will be working together to create and test Intelligent Network services in Manhattan, using network switch software and the TTSI-NET family. US Sprint Communications has been using TSCP-1000, claimed to be the first service control point capable of handling the extremely high volume transaction load requir ed in an Intelligent Network, since 1988 and the system is claimed to be running up to 400 transactions per second using an authorisation code application and execute multiple ap plications in US Sprint’s Signalling System 7 fibre optic digital net work. The TTSI-NET TSCE-1000 is an application development tool des igned to reduce the time and human resources needed to develop new service applications – and is being used by Logica Plc’s Logica Data Architects Inc and ACI Telecom Inc to develop applications. And TTSI- NET TSMS-1000 provides generic man agement services for Intelligent Network applications, and is claimed to be the first such system to offer on-line as well as batch informati on management.
