Tandem Computers Inc, Cupertino, California, has licensed London-based Data Connection Ltd’s integrated X.400/SMTP messaging server for use on the Tandem NonStop operating system. The messaging server is a new generation of the firm’s messaging technology, which combines X.400 and SMTP/ MIME messaging in a single product. It provides an integrated system for electronic mail, Electronic Data Interchange, facsimile and voice message processing. Its messaging support includes native X.400 and SMT P/MIME messaging. Administration is via fully-distributed X.500/LDAP support, with system management through any Simple Network Management Protocol compliant agent. Optional features include universal mailbox server, gateways to proprietary protocols, administrative applications and additional management tools.
